Columbus East’s Olympian Spirit Marching band won first place overall in Class 4A competition as well as top honors in its class for best music, best general effect, best percussion and best color guard at the Mid-States Marching Invitational hosted by Columbus North.


Arvin Industries, Columbus Container and GTR Enterprises received Training 2000 grants from the Indiana Department of Commerce to assist in facilities expansion, the creation of 130 new jobs and the retraining of 1,192 current workers.


The congregation of New Hope Christian Church north of the city celebrated its 150th anniversary and dedicated a new sanctuary.
