A giant pumpkin weighing more than 600 pounds and measuring 11 feet in circumference, was transported from its “home” field near Bloomington to Columbus to be the centerpiece of the annual Night of a Thousand Jacks fall festival downtown.

The federal government slapped Cummins and six other engine manufacturers with fines and ordered them to improve pollution control as part of a $1 billion settlement of allegations they cheated to get diesel truck engines to pass federal emissions tests.

With a months-long renovation complete, the children’s ward at Bartholomew County Hospital was transformed into a bright, multi-colored “world of its own,” with new treatment and waiting rooms and a playroom filled with toys and a new television set.
