Crimson Pride notch first-ever conference win

IU Columbus baseball picked up its first-ever River States Conference win a 4-2 decision against West Virginia Tech in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Cyrus Robinson’s two-run single in a three-run fifth was the game-winner for the Crimson Pride. Lucas Slager went 2 for 3.

Austin Martin, a freshman from Jennings County, pitched a scoreless final 2.1 innings to pick up the win in relief of Jackson Glicrest.

WVU Tech won the opener 9-1. The game was tied 1-1 before WVU Tech scored three times in the eighth and five in the ninth.

Aidan Hapner went 2 for 3 with a double, and Wyatt Sutton went 2 for 3 for IUC. Blake Nigg took the loss.

The Crimson Pride (5-13, 1-2) play a doubleheader at Campbellsville (Kentucky) on Tuesday and are back home for a single game Friday and two games Saturday against Point Park.
