“Generation Harmonique,” an ensemble composed of mostly Indiana University personnel, presented a complete performance of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” at First Presbyterian Church. The work was performed with solely period instruments and free to the public.

1999

Local bowlers raised more than $64,000 for Bartholomew County Big Brothers Big Sisters during the 16th annual Bowl For Kids Sake fundraiser at Columbus Bowling Center and Bulldog Lanes. More than 1,100 bowlers of all skill levels bowled on a record 235 five-member teams for the Irwin Union-sponsored event.

1974

The Columbus East High School gymnasium was decorated with construction paper and balloons for the “Fifties Hop” dance for East parents, teachers and students. Dancers rocked to hits from the late ’50s and early ’60s played by local disc jockey Jimmy Mack.
