IUC baseball, softball teams take losses

Four IU Kokomo pitchers combined on a no-hitter Friday in handing IU Columbus an 8-1 River States Conference defeat.

Drew Bradley, the first of three Crimson Pride pitchers, took the loss. Lane Zohrlaut, a freshman from Jennings County, shut out IU Kokomo over the final 1 2/3 innings.

Meanwhile, IUC softball dropped a doubleheader at Ohio Christian, falling 5-1 and 9-6. Izzy Johnson went 2 for 3, and Taylor Hadley, a sophomore from Columbus North, went 2 for 4 in the opener. Starter Sydney Owens took the loss.

In the second game, Gracie Holok went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs, and Mallory Shelton added two RBIs. Erica Henry took the loss.

The baseball team (10-25, 2-11) will host a doubleheader with IU Kokomo beginning at 1 p.m. today.

The softball team’s doubleheader scheduled for today at Point Park has been postponed to April 15. The Crimson Pride (8-14, 6-8) will host a doubleheader with Rio Grande on Friday.
