Larry Gene Taulman

EDINBURGH

Larry Gene Taulman, age 82 of Edinburgh, IN died on Monday, April 8, 2024 at GreenTree of Westwood in Columbus under the compassionate care of Journey North and Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Larry was born January 25th, 1942 in Columbus, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, L. Marshall and Mary (Williamson) Taulman, and a younger brother Lynn Taulman. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice (Cook) Taulman, and their son, Dr. Scott (Sheila) Taulman of Columbus, IN and one granddaughter, Dr. Brooklyn Taulman of Columbus, IN.

Larry Taulman graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1960 and earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education from Franklin College. He earned a Master’s of Science degree from Indiana University and taught for Franklin Community Schools until he retired in 1997. During his teaching tenure, Larry Taulman was co-editor of the student group writing project, The Atterbury File, a published school project of Custer Baker student essays, photos, maps and drawings of the important Indiana military camp. Larry also spent many years as a volunteer for the Edinburgh Fire Department assisting with the EMS and photography. He served on the Edinburgh School Board from 1970 – 1980 and on the Edinburgh Town Council from 1990 – 2010.

Larry Taulman was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association. He was a member of the Broadcasters Association and the Indiana Sheriffs Association. He also served as a board director of Mutual Bank. Larry Taulman enjoyed his membership with the local Edinburgh Lion’s Club, the Masonic Lodge #100, and the Scottish Rite of Indiana.

Larry’s wishes were that there would be no calling or funeral service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN.
