Sarah Ruth Newkirk, 84, passed away February 10, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus, Indiana.
She was born to Walter Blue and Helen Sanders Blue on April 5, 1932, in Troy, Indiana.
Ruth married Lanson Newkirk on May 26, 1956.
She was a retired teacher from Bartholomew County School Corp.
Surviving is her son, David Newkirk (Junglui) of Redondo Beach, California; her grandson, Ryan Newkirk; sisters-in-law, Lois Bruselton of Princeton, Indiana; Jean Blue of Tell City, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Ronglui Newkirk; and caregivers, Linda Richey and Cole Romine of Columbus, Indiana.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lanson; parents, Walter and Helen; her son, Dennis; brother, Walter Blue Jr.; sisters, Emily Wolf and Mary Helen Aldridge.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at Zoercher Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, Indiana.
