Carr Hill overpass to close

Beginning Friday, the Carr Hill Road overpass above Interstate 65 will be off-limits to traffic.

The road itself will be closed 150 feet back from the bridge in both directions from Friday through mid-to-late July, according to the Bartholomew County Highway Department.

While crews have begun their work with tree clearing and utility relocations, access will be available to homeowners within the vicinity of the closure.

The Carr Hill overpass is one of two superstructure replacement projects planned over I-65 in Bartholomew County this year. Once work is completed in mid-summer, crews will close the County Road 200S overpass west of Southside Elementary School from mid-July through late November.

Night-time lane restrictions will take place on I-65 during bridge demolition and beam setting operations.

The nearly-$5 million project was awarded to Milestone Contractors in November. The project completion date is Nov. 30.
