Pioneers top Olympians

MOORESVILLE — Columbus East was tied with Mooresville 8-8 after one quarter, but the Pioneers pulled away for a 63-48 victory.

Ben Sylva led the Olympians (1-11) with 17 points. Zane Moravec scored nine, and Jack Fischvogt added seven.

East falls to Flashes

Columbus East came out on the short end of a 100.5 to 92.5 decision against Franklin Central.

Cami Warren won the floor with an 8.65 and finished third on the vault (8.35), bars (8.0) and beam (8.6) onher way to a second-place finish in the all-around (33.6) to lead the Olympians.

East’s Shelby Kendrick took fourth on the bars (7.7). Lauren Dixon was fourth on the floor (7.55).

Panthers down Cubs

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won 12 of the 14 matches in rolling to a 67-11 win against Madison.

Xavior Gindhart (220 pounds), James Hatton (120), Lane Kirchner (132), Evan Sochacki (138), RJ Barberis (152) and Teagan Trotter (170) all won by pin for the Panthers. Kamron Carney (285), Logan Pike (106) and Sasha Hicks (113) all won by forfeit, and Chris Hernandez (160) won by injury default.

Also for Jennings, Aiden Kirchner (145) won by major decision. Daniel Rodriguez (126) won bu decision.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Panther sets record

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County had little trouble in a 70-48 win against Newport (Kentucky) Central Catholic.

Juliann Woodard scored 26 points and broke the Panthers’ all-time rebound record of 774 that was held by Janet (Craddock) VanLiew. Megan Vogel had 13 points and Mollie Ernstes added seven for Jennings (13-5).

Eagles rout Artesians

MARTINSVILLE — Ava Stogsdill scored a career-high 31 points to lead Brown County to an 83-54 victory at Martinsville.

Lexie Austin scored 14 points, and Maddie Huff had 10 for the Eagles (10-9). Abigail Watson scored eight, and Katie Tipton and Anna Tipton each added seven.

Cougars top Lancers

EDINBURGH — Edinburgh jumped out to a 14-9 lead after one quarter, but South Decatur rallied for a 56-30 Mid-Hoosier Conference win.

Makayla Somers recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Paige McQueen scored 14 points to lead the Cougars (7-11, 4-2. Kiley Best had 12 points, and Molly Eden added eight points and 11 rebounds.

Gracie Crawhorn led the Lancers (6-14, 0-3) with 19 points.
