Members of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce’s industrial council map plans to save rail service in and out of the community at a meeting on March 6, 1974, at Edinburgh Community High School. The Federal Department of Transportation planned to discontinue the Penn Central Railroad Service.

2014

Five senior Bull Dog soccer players from the Class of 2014 landed college scholarships, including Andre Abedian, who committed to the University of Chicago. The Columbus North boys soccer team spent the entire 2013 season ranked at No. 1 in the state and was ranked No. 1 in the country by MaxPreps.com late in the season.

1999

Joyce Lucke, IUPUC visiting lecturer in anthropology and coordinator of adjunct faculty, was awarded the Indiana University Distinguished Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty. Lucke was the first recipient of the award, given annually to only one adjunct faculty member across the entire IU system.

1974

The Columbus Board of Zoning Appeals granted a variance to Virgil Jaggers to operate a grocery store in his home in the Morningside addition. The zoning board’s vote was 4-1 but the vote among the 28 neighbors who came to support Jaggers and his store was unanimous.
