EDINBURGH — Edinburgh’s search for its first win of the season will have to wait another week.

Brownstown Speedway will host its biggest racing event ever tonight at the Jackson County Fairgrounds racetrack.

Summer has slipped into fall, delivering a host of hunting seasons while fishing heats up across the board. Predator fish of the north, like walleye, musky and northern pike, are aggressively feeding in preparation for winter. Down south, bass fishermen are experiencing some of the hottest action of the year. Pan fishermen keep busy putting fillets in the freezer and catfish hunters are prowling the big waters for river monsters.

The Hauser Junior High soccer team fell to Morristown 5-0 on Monday.

Second-ranked Columbus North wrapped up the outright Conference Indiana boys tennis title Thursday with a 5-0 win against Bloomington North to close the regular season.

HOPE — For three sets Thursday night, Hauser and Class A No. 3 Trinity Lutheran were about as even as possible.

Columbus North had to come back during Thursday night’s boys soccer contest with visiting Floyd Central.

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East’s boys soccer game at Bloomington North on Thursday was about as even as could be.

VERSAILLES — The Hauser boys cross-country team ran to a second-place finish ont of nine teams Thursday in South Ripley’s Big Pumpkin Invitational.
