The winter weather roller-coaster ride we’ve been on has taken another turn to colder days. As temperatures drop and lakes freeze up once more, ice fishermen will be heading to local waters in search of some fine catches and much needed relief from cabin fever.

Team Indiana, which included four Club Olympia swimmers from Columbus, won the annual Mid States All-Star Championships last weekend at the Indiana Uuniversity Natatorium in Indianapolis against the top 14-and-under swimmers. Team Indiana scored 3,859 points, outdistancing Team Ohio with 3,124 points, followed by Minnesota, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Hammel to enter Hall; Monday is reservation deadline

Columbus North boys and girls tennis coach Kendal Hammel is among five inductees who will be added to the Indiana High School Tennis Hall of Fame Feb. 4 at Plum Creek Golf Club in Carmel. A social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:45.
