The Indiana University J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program presents Perceptions and Inventions, an exhibition by artist Donald Beal, in the gallery at The Republic Building (333 Second St., Columbus).

Donald Beal was born in 1959 in Syracuse, New York, and grew up in Westford, Massachusetts. He studied painting at the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and received an MFA from Parsons School of Design in 1983. He moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1985 where he has lived and worked ever since. Beal has taught drawing and painting Cape wide for nearly thirty years, and was a Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth from 1999 through 2016. Beal is one of two recipients of the 2013 Lillian Orlowsky William Freed Fellowship Grant (LOWF). He is represented by the Berta Walker Gallery (Provincetown and Wellfleet) and Thomas Deans Fine Art (Atlanta)

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Beal will give an artist talk at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium at the Republic Building. The exhibition will run from Oct. 6 to Nov. 18, 2022.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
