Alongsider Church — Alongsider is a community of house churches coming together to worship as one body on the first and third Sundays monthly at 9:30 a.m. The church meets in the cafeteria at WD Richards Elementary School. Park in the back by the tennis courts and enter through door 24. On the second and fourth Sundays, house churches meet in homes across Columbus for a conversational study of the past sermon and deeper fellowship.

Asbury United Methodist Church — Asbury offers a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. Nursery is available for both services. J.A.M. (children’s church) is offered only at the 11 a.m. service. Sunday school classes meet at 10 a.m. Asbury offers a variety of classes and group studies at various times during the week. On March 19, the church will also have a traditional service at 8:45 a.m. The regular schedule will resume March 26.

Every Thursday when school is in full-day session, a $4 taco/chicken lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with Pit Stop (Taco Church) Lunch.

Columbus Baptist Church — The church offers worship services on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. A teen service is offered at 6:30 p.m. Sunday school for all ages meets at 9:30 a.m.

East Columbus Christian Church — East Columbus Christian Church is open for in-person worship on Sunday mornings with a blended worship service at 10 a.m. The church also has online worship available through Facebook and YouTube.

Sunday morning Bible study is at 9 a.m. Youth meet at the church from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and children’s ministry meets through Zoom on Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

East Columbus United Methodist Church — Pastor Jongmin Lee will bring the message at the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service. The morning blended worship service includes praise music and traditional hymns. Children receive a special message during children’s moment and are dismissed for children’s church during the service. Sunday school is held immediately after the morning service, and classes are available for all ages and Bible interests. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month.

A free hot meal will be served the second Sunday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Youth Center Building. All are welcome to come.

Fairlawn Presbyterian Church — The church has in-person and Zoom services at 9:30 a.m. To join on Zoom, email the church office at [email protected] to request a Zoom link.

We have the opportunity this Lent at Fairlawn to engage in several studies. One, the devotion on “God Still With Us” adding to the theme used during Advent. The church will collect the offering at the end of this devotion on Palm Sunday, April 2. Two, our second-hour discussion looking at the desert of compassion and how God speaks to us in wilderness moments. Lastly, our joint Zoom study with our Matthew 25 friends at First Presbyterian of Bloomington and Columbus as we look at Jesus’ expansive invitation of hospitality.

On the third Sunday of Lent, March 19, the second hour discussion will be “The Desert of Compassion — Your Whole Mind.” On Monday, March 20 at 7 p.m., the Zoom study meeting will be “Meeting Jesus at the Table — Relationships and Reciprocity Making Room at the Table,” with the Scripture being Luke 14:7-1.

Women’s Bible study is the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church — Worship each Sunday begins at 9 a.m. in-person and livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Most Sundays, Sunday school and an adult Bible study are offered from 10:15 to 11 a.m. Wednesday evening worship is offered at 6:30 p.m. each week. The congregation also livestreams a daily devotion and prayer Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m. on the Facebook page.

Preschool classes continue, with fall enrollment opening soon. The congregation offers an afterschool program with space available for new students each school day from 3 to 5:30 p.m. with busing from Southside Elementary.

First Presbyterian Church — The theme for Lent this year is “Journey,” and on the Fourth Sunday in Lent our passages will be 1 John 4:13-21 and Matthew 12:46-50, and the sermon by Pastor Felipe Martinez will be “On the Journey to Family.” The Sanctuary Choir will lead us. First United Methodist Church — On Sunday, March 19, at 10 a.m., the Rev. Howard Boles will deliver the message, “Seeking: Asking the Right Questions” The Scripture will be John 9:1-41.

The church encourages those attending in person to arrive 10 minutes before the service. Childcare will be available from 9:45 a.m. until the end of the 10 a.m. service.

For those unable to attend the in-person service or not yet comfortable meeting in person, service livestreams will be available on the church Facebook page and the church YouTube channel (FUMC Columbus). Videos will be available on the church website for later viewing as well.

On Friday, March 24, the church will have a concert featuring Julie Gilchrist (soprano) accompanied by David Ashworth on piano. This night of Irish music will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free; donations are encouraged.

Flintwood Wesleyan Church — Sunday morning worship begins at 9 a.m. with the amplify (contemporary) service. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with classes for all age groups. Garden City Christian Church — Sunday school classes are available for infants through adults at 9 a.m. Join the church for a 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship service led by Pastor Brian Gilroy.

The church’s Alzheimer’s and dementia support group for caregivers meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Wednesday evening youth group, led by interim youth minister Ryan Croft, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. for grades 6-12. Trail Life Troop IN-0110 meets twice monthly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Christian Union Church — The church invites the community to visit the little 150-year-old country church for a 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Petersville United Methodist Church — On March 19, at the 9 a.m. worship service, Pastor Rebecca Milne will bring the message from the “Painting With Ashes” series, “The Way It Ought To Be;” scriptures will come from John 9:1-41. She will remind the congregation that the place of our deepest wounding is where God does His best work.

Kathy Bush will serve as worship and song leader; Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon.

A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow the service.

Petersville’s United Women of Faith will meet at the church on Thursday, March 23 at 3:30 p.m. President Chris Kimerling will conduct the meeting; Kathy Bush will give the program. Any woman is welcome to attend.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the Petersville United Women of Faith, will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 1 at 1 p.m., on the church lawn. Children from toddler through sixth grade may begin registering at 12:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The United Methodist Men’s group will gather on April 2 at the church at 7:15 a.m. All men are invited to attend.

Sandy Hook United Methodist Church — Sandy Hook United Methodist Church gathers weekly for in-person and online worship. The church will offer two services on Sunday, March 19 — the traditional service at 8:45 a.m. and the contemporary service at 11 a.m. Rev. Beverly Perry will bring a message about “The Way It Ought To Be” as part of the Lent sermon series “Painting With Ashes”

Nursery is available for children 3 and younger from 8:30 a.m. through the end of second service. Sunday school is offered for all ages between the two services.
