Club Olympia competes in Age Group, Senior State meets

During the past two weekends, 10 Club Olympia athletes competed in Indiana Swimming’s 2023 Long Course Championships for Age Group and Seniors at IUPUI’s Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis. Club teams.

The competitions are broken down into Age Group State for male and female swimmers 14-and-under and Senior State for any swimmer who has met the senior qualifying times.

Josh Pendleton led Club Olympia at Age Group State competing in the 13-14 boys division. Pendleton finished on the podium and medaled in the 800- and 1,500-meter freestyle events, placing eighth in both. He also finished 10th in the 200 butterfly, 13th in the 400 individual medley and 400 freestyle and 18th in the 200 IM with lifetime-best times in all six events.

Connelly Furnish finished on the podium in the 13-14 girls division with a seventh-place finish in the 1,500 freestyle. Furnish took ninth in the 800 freestyle, 15th in the 400 freestyle, 20th in the 400 IM, 23rd in the 200 freestyle and 30th in the 200 IM.

Chad Pendleton, competing in the 10U boys division, was 12th in the 200 freestyle, 14th in the 100 freestyle, 18th in the 200 IM, 20th in the 100 butterfly and 38th in the 50 backstroke with three lifetime-best times.

Aahan Gupta, also competing in 10U boys, placed 12th in the 100 butterfly and 19th in the 200 IM, both lifetime-bests.

Shreyan Kulkarni, competing in the 11-12 boys division, placed 19th in the 200 backstroke, 26th in the 100 backstroke and 30th in the 200 IM, all lifetime-best times.

Camila Mejia Murguia, who qualified for six events, finished 20th in the 50 butterfly, 26th in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM, 27th in the 50 freestyle, 28th in the 200 freestyle and 33rd in the 100 freestyle. Rebeca Mejia Murguia took 47th in the 50 freestyle.

At Senior State, which included many of the state’s top high school and collegiate swimmers, Ty Mayer finished 40th in the men’s 1,500 freestyle, 65th in the 200 butterfly and 86th in the 200 freestyle, all personal-best times. Annie Murer took 57th in the women’s 400 freestyle, 76th in the 200 freestyle, 79th in the 200 IM and 94th in the 100 freestyle, achieving best times in three of her four races. Judah Nickoll was 85th in the men’s 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle, 92nd in the 100 freestyle and 102nd in the 50 freestyle all in lifetime-best times.

This weekend, Club Olympia has more than 30 swimmers competing in the Indiana Swimming Southeast Divisional Championship meet at Center Grove to wrap up the 2023 Summer Long Course Season.

Strader plays in All-American Games

The 8-year-old Stader was one of 30 players representing the Northeast Region. The games took place at the Space Coast Complex in Florida.
