North, Jennings, Brown County run at Eagle Classic

NASHVILLE — Columbus North cross-country finished fourth in the Boys Elite Race, and the girls were 12th in the Girls Elite race Saturday in the Brown County’s Eagle Classic.

Top-ranked Carmel won the boys race with 91 points to 92 for No. 4 Zionsville, 132 for No. 7 Franklin Central, 157 for the No. 11 Bull Dogs, 158 for No. 12 Center Grove, 160 for No. 6 Floyd Central, 166 for No. 13 Bloomington North, 258 for No. 20 North Central, 268 for Avon and 281 for No. 24 Perry Meridian.

The No. 22 Bull Dog girls finished with 304 points. No. 7 North Central won with 77 to 116 for No. 6 Carmel, 131 for No. 8 Franklin Central, 135 for No. 11 Morgan Township, 161 for No. 13 Zionsville, 192 for No. 14 Brownsburg, 229 for Mt. Vernon, 286 for No. 15 Bloomington South and 297 for No. 21 Center Grove.

Neal White led the Columbus North boys with an eighth-place finish in 15 minutes, 36.9 seconds for 5,000 meters (3.1 miles). Akot Tong took 18th in 15:57.6, while Draven Martinez was 41st (16:24.5), Amit Gangadhara 52nd (16:33.1), Adam Reckers 55th (16:36.4), Jonny Klaus 71st (16:45.7), Damian Dixon 95th (17:01.6), Evan Bense 96th (17:02.6), Cole Stevens 111th (17:18.4) and Rylan Hottell 118th (17:26.1).

Ainsley Sherlock finished 39th in 19:49.3 to lead the Bull Dog girls. Kyleigh Wolf took 63rd in 20:17.0 , while Kenzie Meyer was 69th (20:21.3), Carys Glyn-Jones 75th (20:28.3), Macy Eaton 87th (20:39.8), Lana Wisler 97th (20:52.5), Maggie Russell 101st (20:59.0), Katie Frazier 102nd (20:59.0), Kenzie Pendleton 117th (21:27.1) and Lydia Weed 131st (21:39.7).

Columbus North won the Boys Freshman-Sophomore race with 72 points. Logan Vanzant finished third in 16:32.5, while Denton Sluder was fifth (16:47.7), Sam Steinmetz eighth (17:01.9), Leyton Hottell 19th (17:31.0) and Levi Carothers 37th (17:55.0).

Jennings County finished sixth in the Boys AA race with 193 points. Lawrence North won with 52. Aaron Lewis led the Panthers with a 16th-place finish in 17:20.6, while Lain Ernstes was 30th (17:47.0), Dawson Leak 45th (18:14.55), Brock Maschino 50th (18:26.1) and Zachary Wahlman 55th (18:32.5).

Jennings finished 13th in the Girls AA race with 284 points. Jasper won with 56. Avery Willhite led the Panthers with a 40th-place finish in 21:49.3, while Addie Otte was 51st (22:18.3), Molly Wathen 57th (22:22.5), Alana Watts 80th (23:05.6) and Isla Stevens 92nd (23:37.0).

Brown County finished fourth in the Boys A race with 110 points. Barr-Reeve won with 76. Charlie Webb led the Eagles with a 14th-place finish in 18:11.4, while Kai Koester was 20th (18:35.8), Corbin Brahaum 22nd (18:50.9), Eli Wrightsman 29th (19:06.6) and Josh Redmon 27th (19:57.5).

Brown County finished fifth in the Girls A race with 130 points. Barr-Reeve won with 23. Sadie Hiatt led the Eagles with a 22nd-place finish in 22:45.8, while Charly Eddins was 36th (24:12.3), Della Hitchcock 40th (24:23.6), Izzy Miller 46th (24:35.1) and Kayleigh Austin 51st (24:57.3).
