2014

Tom Harmon, chief executive officer of Taylor Brothers Construction Co., was the 2014 recipient of the William R. Laws Human Rights Award. Harmon was honored for his work to bring community residents together to work toward a common goal of inclusion and equity, which embodied what William R. Laws stood for.

1999

Donner Swim Club won seven state titles in the Indiana Age Group State Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, and finished 10th out of 91 teams. Club member Leah Retrum won four individual state titles and Erin Sheehy won two.

1974

19-year-old Tom Simms of Columbus won the coveted Gold Ice Dance Medal at the annual awards dinner for the Lincoln Center Figure Skating Club at Donner Center. Simms’ mother accepted the award for him, as he was training in Hartford, Conn. for further competition.
