Marjorie Pennington was honored as Woman of the Year by the Chere Amie chapter of the American Business Women’s Association at the spring Hand of Friendship Tea held March 17, 1974, at Donner Center.

2014

Brian Hannasch, chief operating officer for Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., the international company that owns Circle K convenience stores, was named its next president and CEO. Hannasch joined Couch-Tard in 2001, when the Laval, Quebec-based company purchased Johnson Oil Co., a Columbus-based convenience store chain.

1999

An Indiana Students Taught Awareness and Resistance (ISTAR) Dance for middle school students was held in the gymnasium at Columbus North High School. While students danced, parents met in the cafeteria to discuss how they could discourage student drug use.

1974

The Butler University Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble of Indianapolis was featured in a “band-o-rama” in the Columbus East High School auditorium. The East band, directed by Ora Pemberton, opened the program.
