The Jennings County eighth-grade volleyball team claimed its first two wins of the season, beating St. Peter’s 25-4, 25-11 on Tuesday and Greensburg 25-13, 25-14 on Thursday.

For one half of football Friday night, Columbus East couldn’t do much wrong.

INDIANAPOLIS — The debut for new Columbus North football head coach Logan Haston wasn’t the ending that he quite wanted.

After five years away from the top step, Donny Schatz finally returned to glory at Knoxville Raceway, winning the 61st Annual Knoxville Nationals in Iowa on Aug. 13.

Nothing lasts forever. This common phrase is uttered regularly upon the loss of opportunities and objects both big and small. The notion, though, that hunting could one day be completely a thing of the past is hard to fathom for those of us whose passion is lifelong. We’re aware of declines in participation and increasing opposition, but are we forward thinking enough to recognize the potential of finality? Thankfully, some hunters are.

Even though Columbus North football has won the outright Conference Indiana title the past two years, the Bull Dogs aren‘t satisfied and look to make a bigger leap this year.

After playing in a sectional that included Bloomington North and Bloomington South since pretty much the implementation of class sports, Franklin and Whiteland have replaced the two Bloomington schools in Columbus East’s volleyball sectional.

The Columbus North volleyball team controlled the match for most of the entirety Thursday night against Shelbyville.
