Heath Jewell of Jewell-Rittman Funeral Home was among area funeral directors who released balloons in memory of veterans who died during the previous year at the Columbus and Bartholomew County Color Guard Veterans Day Program in 2013.

About 700 area residents paid one-time $90 membership fees to join the Columbus Food Co-op in opening a cooperative grocery store.


Area children from Lincoln, Mount Healthy, Rockcreek, Schmitt and Taylorsville elementary schools, the five local Recreation and Enrichment Program for Students program sites, decorated Christmas trees along The Commons mezzanine.


General Cinema twin theaters, an original tenant of Courthouse Center, held its grand opening featuring a ribbon cutting and showings of “Mary Poppins” and “The New Land.”
