Club Olympia Swim Team, with just under 50 athletes competing, opened its 2022 Long Course Season with a second-place finish at last weekend’s “Early Summer Slam” Meet hosted by the Franklin Regional Swim Team.

In the wilds of rural New Mexico, I sat on a rock outcropping starring into the abyss of a seemingly endless landscape. The mountainous region’s arid climate leaves one wondering how anything could survive here. Yet, wildlife thrives. Deer, elk, aoudad, turkey, quail, coyotes and many more species make their home amongst the cactus and scrubby trees. In the future, hopefully a healthy population of Mexican Grey Wolves will again roam these lands.

Aside from his success as a football coach at Columbus East, Bob Gaddis has been working on the front lines to improve the game for players and coaches.

Jason Perry is a teacher, assistant athletics director and sports information director at Columbus North High School, and now, he has an additional role for the foreseeable future: interim head football coach.

GIRLS TENNIS

Columbus East senior Alijah Tungate participated in a signing ceremony Thursday to play football at Trine. He is joined by his parents Chris Tungate and Jerra Burton.

Columbus Speedway Go-Kart Racing, which holds events at the Tony Stewart Speedway located at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, was able to hold its first racing night of 2022 on April 29.
